His father was the legendary Clifton Chenier, king of zydeco. C.J. cut his musical teeth touring as a member of his father’s band, playing sax for 10 years. After Clifton passed, C.J. took the reins of The Red Hot Louisiana Band as the main singer and accordion player.
C.J., now the crown prince of zydeco, says: “You can’t come to my show and stay unhappy all night long.” That could serve as the band’s motto, because you can’t help feeling good when you’re surrounded by their blend of creole music, southern R&B and blues. Just try not to tap your feet – it’s impossible!
