The drawings will be exposed at Blues Square during the Festival. The winner will be selected by draw at the end of the Festival and will receive their printed shirt by mail.

Little Hands, Big Creations
A unique chance for children to experience life in a restaurant kitchen, as they prepare their own poutine and share it with their family.

Create your Tea Blend
A tea guide will explain how to choose the best infusion method, as well as the ideal steeping duration and temperature, to make the perfect cup of tea every time. Participants will then create their own tea blend and give it a taste.

Build a cigar box guitar with JP Soars
Guests will follow JP Soars’s instructions to build a mythical cigar box guitar. (Cigar box guitar kits on sale at the Blues Square boutique. — $)

Cook a gumbo with Mike Goudreau
Help Mike cook three different kinds of traditional gumbo. The group will then taste them and vote for the best gumbo of the Festival.

Learn to play harmonica with Steve Marriner
Learn the basics of the blues’ flagship instrument and take part in a jam session.

You could bring your own harmonica (C major).

Sing gospel with Dawn Tyler Watson
Dawn will explain the history, basics and particulars of gospel music. Participants will then learn a song that they will perform together, as a gospel choir.

Swing dance with Miche Love
Learn the rules and moves of swing dance and create a choreography with Miche Love, which you’ll then be able to show off to the public.
Wednesday, July 10, 12 p.m.

Write a song with Steve Strongman
Steve will build a song from the ideas provided by guests and perform it for the audience.
Thursday, July 11, 12 p.m.

Learn to structure blues songs with Hayden Fogle
Learn to write a song that respects the rules of blues music. Hayden Fogle will compose an original song with you that he will improvise at the end of the workshop.
Friday, July 12, 12 p.m.

Build an early 20th century instrument with juke it out
Travel back in time with the band members and learn how to make instruments using household materials. Then, a chosen song will be performed with the newly-made instruments.
Saturday, July 13, 12 p.m.

Learn the basics of percussion with Lily Thibodeau and Stephane Beaudin
On improvised percussion instruments, you will participate in the birth of a new beat.
