TREMBLANT INTERNATIONAL BLUES FESTIVAL

2017’s Festival Favourites will be announced tonight at 9pm at Place St-Bernard on the Casino stage, prior to the final jam, and on the Tremblant Blues Festival Facebook page

 Mont-Tremblant, July 16 2017 – The ever popular Blues’Araoke wraps up the 24th Tremblant International Blues Festival on a lovely note, this Sunday at 1:30 pm. With singer Martin Deschamps as honourary president, the event showcases festival-goers who were selected during open mike auditions held Saturday July 8 and 15. Today they have a rare chance to perform on Place St-Bernard’s Casino stage, with band Wang Dang Doodle.

Over the years, the Blues’Araoke has become one of TIBF’s most powerful and popular events. It also serves as a launch pad for stellar vocalists like Tova Stolow, who went on to compete on La Voix.

At 10:00 am, singer-songwriter-guitarist Marc Crissinger’s show features several numbers from his latest album, Night Light. His second performance is at 5:00 pm. At noon, Bo Reissett & The Lazy Bones Blues Band shines the spotlight on an artist who left classical music for the moodier blues; their second performance is at 3:00 pm.

At 12:30 pm, a free 60-minute harmonica workshop with Gary Allegretto is offered free to the first 100 festival-goers interested in learning harmonica 101; at 4:30 pm, they perform their newly-learned blues tune with their music teacher on Place St-Bernard’s Casino stage.

After the Blues’Araoke finale at 1:30 pm, TIBF habitué Dwane Dixon performs tunes showcasing his incredible voice and legendary guitar riffs at 2:00 and 3:15 pm.

At 4:30 pm, Gary Allegretto shows why he has dominated the world’s blues and roots scene. At 7:15 pm, Dawn Tyler Watson ‒ winner of the prestigious International Blues Challenge and always a favourite among TIBF festival-goers ‒ delivers an unforgettable performance.

True to tradition, a closing jam session wraps up the 24th edition of TIBF. Marc Parent and Wang Dang Doodle welcome performers Carl Tremblay, Dwane Dixon, Marc Crissinger, Bo Reissett, Dawn Tyler Watson, Ben Racine and Dominic Flibotte.

In addition to quality shows and performances, visitors are welcome to join exciting music-themed activities like open keyboard public piano playing, and riding musical bicycles.

The organizing committee also announced the dates of the 25th edition of TIBF, to be held July 6 ‒ 15 2018.

The Blues’Araoke finale and closing jam wrap up 24th edition in full force

Mont-Tremblant, July 13 2017 – The second and final weekend of the 24th Tremblant International Blues Festival comes loaded with memorable performances by renowned artists and musicians. Visitors are sure to enjoy blissful moments in music thanks to the endless talent of instrumentalists paired with rich, out-of-this-world vocals.

Friday July 14 at 1:00 pm and 8:30 pm, Mitch Woods and his devilishly hot piano playing showcases tunes inspired from the 40s and 50s’ jum-boogie orchestra era. With a hearty serving of New Orleans R&B, he creates a style he calls rock-a-boogie. At 2:00, 4:00 and 6:00 pm, duo Larue-Deway delivers blues en français, with riffs worthy of the planet’s guitar greats paired with an extremely talented sax player. At 5:30 and 10:30 pm, another made-in Québec artist, Carl Tremblay, shows why he was chosen to play with megastars Joe Cocker and Etta James. An amazing performer, he is sure to whip the crowd into a frenzy with his signature blues and classic rock mix.

At 7:15 pm on Place Saint-Bernard’s Casino stage, Steve Strongman showcases electrifying, entrancing blues. A multiple Juno and Maple Blues Award winner, he performs songs from his latest album, No Time Like Now. Then at 9:00 pm, Coco Montoya returns to the stage in an exclusive performance, after a six-year absence. Come experience a starlight concert with a legendary guitarist who Living Blues magazine describes as one of the most talented of his generation.

Also performing Friday are: Juke It Out (a band from Spain, on its 2nd Tremblant visit), The Soulsisters, Arsen Shomakhov, Jack De Keyzer, Dwane Dixon, Wang Dang Doodle and Après Minuit.

Saturday July 15 at 12:00 pm, visitors are invited to sign up for the Blues’Araoke auditions. Winners perform on Place Saint-Bernard’s Casino stage the next day, with Wang Dang Doodle. In the past, the Blues’Araoke has served as a launch pad for stellar vocalists like Tova Stolow, who went on to compete on La Voix.

Then at 1:30 pm, Lucas Heneman Express offers a creative performance combining blues, folk, jazz and alternative rock. It’s the perfect time to discover a band that won Ottawa’s 2015 Blues Challenge, and stole the spotlight at the 2016 Memphis International Blues Challenge. At 4:30 pm, the awesome talent of the Shawn McPherson Band’s four young musicians is sure to surprise with, at its helm, master harmonica player Shawn McPherson himself. At both 5:30 and 11:00 pm, Bo Reissett & The Lazy Bones Blues Band gives a vibrant performance featuring a classically trained artist who chooses to express her deep passion via the blues.

Come evening, at 7:15 pm a Canadian quartet formed by the brothers Blackburn carry on a family tradition steeped in R&B, with their own personal touch of funk. At 8:30 pm, Mike Goudreau and The Poppins Blues Band take to the stage; their work can be enjoyed on dozens of film and television sound tracks. Then at 9:00 pm is the long awaited Lulu Sings Janis, when the electrifying Lulu Hughes brings to life the spirit and raw energy of Janis Joplin. Also on Saturday’s programme are: Mitch Woods, Arsen Shomakhov, Larue-Deway, Gary Allegretto, Martin Deschamps, Carl Tremblay, Dwane Dixon and Wang Dang Doodle

At 12:30 pm Sunday, July 16 ‒ the last day of the Festival ‒ do plan to attend a free 60-minute harmonica workshop with Gary Allegretto; the first 100 participants receive an instrument and learn a piece they later perform on stage with their teacher, at 4:30 pm. At 1:30 pm is the highly popular Blues’Araoke finale regrouping the winners of the qualifiers held Saturday July 8 & 15, when emerging blues artists perform with band Wang Dang Doodle. At 10:00 am and 5:45 pm, with over 2,300 shows to his credit and a career that spans 30 years, singer-songwriter-guitarist Marc Crissinger adapts traditional themes and spirited lyrics to contemporary arrangements. At 7:15 pm, Dawn Tyler Watson ‒ always a favourite among festival-goers ‒ shows precisely why she won the top award at the International Blues Challenge.

True to tradition, a closing jam session wraps up the 24th edition of TIBF. Marc Parent and Wang Dang Doodle welcome Carl Tremblay, Dwane Dixon, Marc Crissinger, Bo Reissett, Dawn Tyler Watson, Ben Racine and Dominic Flibotte. The party then slips off into the night, relocating at TIBF partner bars.

2017 TREMBLANT INTERNATIONAL BLUES FESTIVAL

Guitar-making and harmonica workshops, instrument sculpting, karaoke…

Mont-Tremblant, July 4 2017 – The 24th edition of the Tremblant International Blues Festival is launching the richest, most varied family programme ever. From Friday July 7 to Sunday July 16, vacationers are invited to have fun, be entertained, learn, discover, play and enjoy crafts ‒ all with music as the main theme.

Saturdays July 8 & 15, register for the Blues’araoke auditions, at noon. Winners share Place Saint-Bernard’s Casino stage with Wang Dang Doodle, on Sunday July 16. Will a rising blues megastar be discovered once again?

The first weekend of TIBF celebrates creativity with a cigar-box guitar-making workshop – and yes, the guitar really works ‒ held Sunday July 9 at 1:00 pm, and hosted by Ghost Town Blues Band’s own Matt Isbell.

July 12 at 2:15 pm, a talented sculptor shares his passion for his art, teaching interested visitors how to carve musical instruments from a block of ice. Next, they put their newly acquired skills to test, under the artist’s supervision.

Sunday July 16 at 1:00 pm, a free harmonica workshop is offered by the reputed Gary Allegretto. The first 100 people to arrive at Blues Square are presented with a harmonica, so they can join a 60-minute music lesson followed by a performance with the artist himself, on Place Saint-Bernard’s Casino stage, at 4:30 pm ‒ a memorable moment for rising stars of all ages and skill levels.

July 8, 15 & 16, up-close-and-personal shows are presented at Café Johannsen, starting at 10 am. What could be nicer than sipping your morning coffee to live blues? Later, expect surprise performances in unusual places ‒ so keep your eyes peeled not to miss a beat. For details on the day’s assorted activities, head over to Place des Voyageurs’ Blues Square, the blues central for meet-ups and discoveries between 10 am and 11 pm. It’s the number one place for families as well, with interactive crafting and jewelry-making workshops. With a resident DJ, it’s where visitors find entertainment, interactive workshops and a boutique carrying all the official TIBF merchandise. Saturday July 8 at 1 pm, plan to attend the Festival Meet & Greet and take some photos with all this year’s TIBF artists.

During the 10-day event, an open-keyboard public piano is somewhere on-site, tempting passers-by to showcase their talent at different locations, between 11 am and 9 pm. Can you find it?

The musical bicycles are another favourite attraction. Each stationary bike plays a different instrument (guitar, bass, drums, etc.), and together they remix a top blues classic. The faster you pedal, the louder your instrument.

Celebrate July with Hot Discounts in Tremblant’s Deep Nature Environment
In addition to blues, many are the reasons that make the Festival unique in North America: the mountain and its scenic gondola, countless trails and family activities, two golf courses, the lake and its beachfront property, a top cycling network, the pedestrian village and its hotels, boutiques, health and wellness centres and lively restaurants, patios and bars. Last-minute vacationers wishing to treat themselves to a TIBF lodging deal can do so with the Celebrate July offer’s 15% off two-night stays, or up to 20% off three-night stays or longer, at participating hotels.

Emerging Artists & Music Legends
This year again, the TIBF event programme features over 100 free shows spotlighting both emerging and renowned blues artists, from here and beyond.

On July 7 or opening weekend, two performances by Ghost Town Blues Band (2016’s Best New Blues Band) – one at 7:15 pm on Place St-Bernard’s Casino stage, and another at 10:30 pm in an up-close-and-personal pedestrian village bar. Bold brass, funky grooves, mellow harmonies and unusual instruments define this Memphis band’s vibe, who Living Blues magazine describes as XXIst century blues at its best

Friday July 7 at 8:15 pm, Sweet Dixie recreates pure New Orleans magic with festive jazz numbers steeped in authenticity. At 9 pm, Sugaray Rayford (2015 TIBF People’s Pick) serves up gospel-inspired tunes with vocals reminiscent of Otis Reding and Wilson Pickett, while James Brown gets the party going on soul, blues and R&B ‒ and electric moves. Wrapping up opening day festivities at 11 pm, legendary Jim Zeller tears up the Casino de Mont-Tremblant stage with Psychobilly Blues.

Saturday July 8 at 10 am is when the first notes drift through the air, and into the wee hours. Among headliners are Marc Parent (Wang Dang Doodle’s founding member), 17-year-old guitarist Spencer Mackenzie, The Griffintown Jug Addicts (quartet with tunes from the 30s and 40s), Endrick & The Sandwiches (authentic delta to boogie-woogie), American guitarist Joel Dasilva, Shawn McPherson Band and his stellar harmonica player, The Commonheart (10 band members on vocals, trumpets, sax, keyboard, etc.) and Curtis Salgado (harmonica player with 40-year+ career).

Sunday July 9, see Nick Schnebelen (cofounder, Trampled Under Foot Band), The Blues Berry Jam (always popular at Tremblant), Paul Deslauriers Band (Memphis International Blues Challenge, Maple Blues Awards), harmonica player Guy Bélanger, J-W Jones (Canadian Blues Hall of Fame), C.J. Chenier And The Red Hot Louisiana Band (famous for southern US créole, blues and R&B mixes) and Fuel Junkie (renowned Montreal sextet brass ensemble).

“The Blues Festival is much more than a fans’ get-together,” says Anne-Marie Withenshaw, the event’s spokesperson for the past three years. “It’s an opportunity to take part in Tremblant resort’s many activities and pair them with quality shows presented from morning till night, on fifteen stages offering up-close-and-personal moments with the artists. It’s also about improvised street performances, passionate vocalists and musicians hosting interactive workshops, meet-ups with blues legends at the mini-putt or in a restaurant, a karaoke face-off mentored by Martin Deschamps, open keyboards, musical bicycles activated by festival-goers and so much more! And this year, you must not miss the July 12 show retelling the history of the blues.”

Among the 2017 headliners:

 Friday July 7 ‒ Festival Favourites Launch Festivities with Big Brass

Saturday July 8 ‒ Exclusive across Canada

Sunday July 9 ‒ Exclusive across Canada

Mont-Tremblant, July 17, 2016 – The 23rd annual Tremblant International Blues Festival will close this evening with a jam session featuring Wang Dang Doodle and a dozen artists that have graced the indoor and outdoor stages of the pedestrian village during the 10-day musical event.

A number of factors – including an environment of proximity with the artists, a diversified lineup with exclusive Festival performances, favourable weather that allowed all shows to go on as planned and the weak Canadian dollar – helped to bring back blues lovers and resort vacationers alike, who turned out for the Festival in similar numbers as last year when a 24% increase in attendance had been recorded. Festival goers were treated to a total of over 150 free shows, including workshops, a blues’araoke, street performances and surprise performances in unexpected locations.

A few of the Festival’s magical moments:

  • A flash street performance by the British beatbox duo and Festival headliners Heymoonshaker in the heart of the pedestrian village;
  • Justin Saladino and Jamiah Rogers who, after each debuting in Tremblant in 2007 at the tender ages 12 and 14 respectively, paired up on the Casino stage eight years later;
  • Diunna Greenleaf, the grande dame of blues and gospel hailing from Texas who paid an exclusive visit to Tremblant, performing a tribute to Koko Taylor alongside Maple Blues Award-winner John Németh and the Montreal band Bharath and his Rhythm Four;
  • The renewed Acoustic Summit concept show that brought simultaneously onto the same stage seven artists performing songs that influenced their careers;
  • Angel Forrest, surrounded by 7 of the 11 guitarists who performed on her latest album Angel’s 11, including Ricky Paquette and Steve Strongman;
  • The Blues du Festival that Gregory Charles spontaneously improvised during a show specially developed for Tremblant;
  • Ian Siegel, England’s national treasure and the recipient of multiple British Blues Awards, in two very different and equally appreciated formats that included an intimate concert on the Vieux-Tremblant stage and another on the big Casino stage;
  • Big Sam’s Funky Nation who, before his scheduled exclusive Canadian performance, played trombone among festival goers;
  • An acoustic performance on Promenade Deslauriers by Colin Linden, the musical director of the hit television series Nashville;
  • An acoustic session by the fire at the base of the mountain by British singer and guitarist Jack Broadbent, who is known for his viral videos.

Festival Favourites

Among all of the artists that appeared on the 15 Festival stages, some drew particular attention, such as the Ghost Town Blues Band from Memphis, named the Festival Discovery of the 23rd edition, and Big Sam’s Funky Nation, selected as the Festival Favourite, who transported the audience with their irresistible mix of horns, funk, soul, rock & roll and dancing.

Not-to-be-missed shows on this final day of the Festival:

Full program: tremblantblues.com. The 24th edition of the Tremblant International Blues Festival will be July 7-16, 2017.

In Between Shows: Tremblant’s Big Nature Environment
Come discover Tremblant’s immense playground and countless activities, from its hiking trails and scenic gondola to a Birds of Prey Show, lugeing, ziplining, golf, miniputt, tennis, swimming & water activities ‒ only a few of the resort destination’s many things to do complementing the boutiques, restaurants, outdoor patios and bars in the pedestrian village.

Mont-Tremblant, April 9 2016 – Amid the cheerful ambience of spring skiing, today the Tremblant International Blues Festival team unveiled its 2016 event programme accompanied by spokesperson Anne-Marie Withenshaw. The 23rd edition of TIBF promises to deliver diversity, quality and up-close-and-personal moments with this year’s artists, as Tremblant’s intimate pedestrian village gets ready to present close to 100 free shows, this July 8 ‒ 17 2016.

Beyond this year’s four outdoor stages where top bluesmen from the four corners of the globe will converge along with highly adored Québécois artists, this summer festivalgoers are sure soak up blues of every shade. On the programme: Street blues, surprise performances in unusual places, blues dance parties, music workshops, blues cafés, jam sessions in the village’s restaurants and bars and of course this year’s Blues’Araoke Contest, mentored by Martin Deschamps.

Must-See Headliners

July 8 :
o Heymoonshaker ‒ The unlikely pairing of two street artists straight from the UK ‒ Andy Balcon and Dave Crowe ‒ who meld their passion for blues and electronica into a new beatbox artform. The two share an undeniable chemistry that makes for a highly interesting show.

o The Porn Flakes with Sébastien Plante, Lulu Hughes & Fred Lebel are back again with a new tribute to the 60s British invasion and blues. Their playlist includes the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Yardbirds, John Mayal and the Bluesbreakers, The Jeff Beck Group, The Animals, Eric Clapton & Cream, Spencer Davis Group, Free and several other music legends.

• July 9 Exclusive to QuébecJohn Németh with Special Guest Diunna Greenleaf. This accomplished blues harmonica player has garnered two Blues Music Awards, one for Soul Blues Male Artist of the Year (2014), and another for Soul Blues Album of the Year (2015). With six albums all praised by critics, Németh has rubbed shoulders with the planet’s who’s who of blues. According to the Philadelphia Daily News, “you’d think he was straight out of the 60s with his throwbacks to Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and Jackie Wilson”. At TIBF, Németh welcomes a very special guest, Texas grande dame of blues Diunna Greenleaf who grew up immersed in gospel. She also performs solo on July 10.

July 10
o Delgres is a band from Guadeloupe delivering a tight, intimate, universal performance that is sure to get everyone up and dancing, as they rekindle memories of their ancestors and serve up the best of the delta blues.

o Exclusive to QuébecJonathan Tyler rose quickly to stardom as a cast member of the Austin City Limits TV show, the Bonnarro Festival, the Hang Out Fest and the Voodoo Experience. In addition to a guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he has performed opening sets for AC/DC, ZZ Top, Grace Potter and Kid Rock. Free of the industry’s big-label constraints, he brings his third album called Holy Smokes to the stage, delivering a deeply personal, bare-naked introspective.

July 11
o Acoustic Summit ‒ Adam Karch, Charlie A'Court, Sean Pinchin & Dione Taylor, John Campbelljohn, Steve Marriner and Samantha Martin ‒ together on the same stage for a rare acoustic performance. Each digs down deep into their bag of personal memories, showcasing the names that influenced their career. Out on the Casino stage, a circular setup allows the seven musicians maximize on musical riff sharing.

o The Paul Deslauriers Band was shortlisted as a finalist from the 119 bands competing at the 2016 Memphis International Blues Challenge. The trio is formed by guitarist Paul Deslauriers whose career has been rewarded by scores of awards and trophies, bass player Greg Morency a.k.a Canada’s top bass player at the 2015 Maple Blues Gala, and by drummer Sam Harrisson, a six-time winner of Québec’s Gala Lys Blues.

July 12Angel Forrest is riding high on a 26-year career with 9 albums and a string of trophies from the 2013, 2014 and 2015 Maple Blues Awards. On album Angel’s 11, Forrest is joined by eleven guitarists on eleven songs, each created in a unique and emotionally charged spirit of collaboration. Steve Strongman, Ricky Paquette, Jean-Sébastien Chouinard, Corey Diabo, Dimitri LeBel-Alexandre, Richard Boisvert and Kim Greenwood.

July 13
o Matt Schofield returns to Tremblant with a new album, Far As I Can See. A British Blues Hall of Fame inductee, he is one of the most gifted 6-string guitar players of his generation. The Los Angeles Daily News recently said of the UK native that he was “the best blues guitar player out of the United Kingdom, all countries combined, by at least a head!” while Guitar & Bass magazine ranks him among the top ten British blues guitarists of all time, alongside Eric Clapton and Peter Green.

o Steve Strongman captivates his audience with his own compositions and contagious enthusiasm. The Hamilton, Ontario native won a Juno at the 2013 Juno Awards, as well as countless Maple Blues Awards. A TIBF habitué, in 2016 he is giving a solo show exclusive to Tremblant, on Promenade Deslauriers’ up-close-and-personal outdoor stage.

o Dawn Tyler Watson has shown incredible versatility throughout her 25-year career. A three-time Maple Blues award winner, for two years this incontestable Canadian queen of blues has been collaborating with singer-guitar player Ben Racine and his band of seven musicians. Their playlist includes select jazz, blues, gospel and soul pieces.

o TIBF ExclusivityGregory Charles is putting on a special blues/R&B show exclusively created for Tremblant. The Canadian star with endless talent discovered music thanks to his parents, developing his gift for classical piano from a very young age and later performing with symphony orchestras on this side of the pond and beyond. Not only is he known as a singer-songwriter, art director, professor and choirmaster but also as a TV and radio show host, comic, producer, philanthropist and entrepreneur.

July 14:
o Ian Siegel is at Tremblant to play the best of blues Americana. Britain’s national treasure, in leading publications like Classic Rock and Mojo, the multiple British Blues Award-winner is positively on fire. In fact, Mojo describes him as “one of the most innovative and talented blues players on the planet”.

o Exclusive to QuébecNikki Hill sings with as much aplomb as conviction. She’s not just the newest pretty face on the musical landscape. Her effect on stage and the authenticity of her lyrics place her among soul legends. According to Spin magazine, she “not only draws on a rich retro sound, she knows exactly what to do with it”. This Carolina girl’s latest album, Heavy Hearts, Hard Fists, shows she’s far more than a pale imitation of Etta James.

o Exclusive to QuébecBig Sam's Funky Nation promises to be highly entertaining with its precious melange of funk, soul, rock’n’roll and dance music. With an arsenal of brass, this hot New-Orleans band generates thundering, energizing funk. Trombone player Big Sam has played with giants like Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint, in addition to working with the likes of the Dave Matthews Band and Widespread Panic. In 2006, amid the sequels of Hurricane Katrina, he shared the stage with U2 and Green Day to mark the reopening of the Superdome.

July 15Ana Popovic is referred to as an ”extraordinary guitar player‟ by Bruce Springsteen, while ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons says she “puts rock into blues with amazing panache”. In May 2016, the Serbian guitarist will be releasing her most ambitious project yet, Trilogy, regrouping three albums into one and featuring 25 jazz, blues and funk titles. Produced by two Grammy award-winners ‒ Warren Riker (Lauryn Hill, Carlos Santana) and Tom Hambridge (Buddy Guy, Susan Tedeschi) ‒ and Delfeayo Marsalis, a top-notch jazz trombonist-composer.

July 16:
o Exclusive to QuébecJack Broadbent rapidly rose to blues rock stardom. This talented British singer-composer grew up listening to John Lee Hooker, Peter Greene, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Deeply rooted in blues, he captivates today’s audiences with ripping slide guitar riffs.

o Andria Simone may be many things, but a traditional blues vocalist she is not. Her muses are Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, Etta James and Aretha Franklin. Digging deep to draw most her inspiration from soul music, her tone goes straight to the heart. She returns to Tremblant after being crowned TIBF’s 2015 People’s Pick.

o Breen Leboeuf & Martin Deschamps join forces to make Tremblant resonate to their show’s hot new vibe. This iconic pair of top Québécois artists plays medleys from their respective repertoires, as well as great rock and blues classics.

Mont-Tremblant, July 12 2015 – Posting a 24% increase in attendance, the 22nd edition of the Tremblant International Blues Festival has ended on a very positive note. The event has become well rooted in the heart of festival-goers who, since July 3, have taken advantage of the pedestrian village’s intimate setting to enjoy over one hundred free shows. Sunshine and fine temperatures rendezvoused at this year’s Festival that showcased artists from the four corners of the globe, to perform on five outdoor stages and at a dozen cafés, restaurants and bars.

Overview of 2015’s New Lineup
In addition to an event programme featuring artists that Quebecers adore, rising stars and headliners, the Festival has never been so interactive or up close and personal. Completing the show offer were unique performances from balconies, street blues, blues dance parties, an air guitar contest and graffiti workshops – including a few dedicated to the memory of B.B. King – so that fans and neophytes alike could appreciate a rich spectrum of blues.

22nd Edition Favourites
From traditional blues to its R & B, funk, country, folk and rock influences, the 22nd edition of TIBF featured shows for every taste, and many were big crowd pleasers. New discoveries included Irish singer-songwriter Grainne Duffy, Australian duo Hat Fitz & Cara, and Ontarians Angelique Francis and Andria Simone who all conquered their audiences. Hardcore blues fans truly enjoyed the Acoustic Summit’s Tribute to CCR, Southern Hospitality, Sugaray Rayford, Philip Sayce, a return visit by Victor Wainwright and new sounds by the Pimps of Joytime and The Bros Landreth. Performing on Place Saint-Bernard’s Casino Stage, Bobby Bazini along with the Porn Flakes with Sébastien Plante & Lulu Hugues put on shows worthy of larger concert venues, and both posted record-breaking weekday attendance numbers. The event programming team is already focused on the Festival’s 23rd edition, scheduled to take place July 8 – 17 2016.

Last Day’s Must-Attend Shows:

  • 1:00 pm: Blues’Araoke – Grand Finale. Today the 10 candidates chosen by a jury at the auditions perform with band Wang Dang Doodle. The winner takes home a guitar autographed by TIBF artists, gifted by Éthier Musique.
  • 7:15 pm: The Sinners Choir. The multigenerational trio formed by Terry Wilkins, Adam Warner and Adam Beer-Colacino is very well established on the Toronto blues scene. Gracefully digging down deep into roots and Americana, rich harmonies are definitely their signature. Presenting their just-released first album to festival-goers, they also welcome a special guest, Ontario harmonica player Jérôme Godboo.
  • 9:00 pm: Closing Jam. True to tradition, TIBF wraps up its ten days of fun, festivities, emotions and blues with a colossal closing jam. The final notes to echo on the mountain will be those of Jim Zeller, Carl Tremblay, Jérôme Godboo and several surprise guests. All honours go to Marc Parent and his band Wang Dang Doodle as they once again take the lead and conduct star traffic on-stage with that steady professionalism they are known for.
